Retail Sales Associate

Job Summary:

The food truck aficionados at Off the Grid are looking for part-time Retail Sales Associate to sell and promote Off the Grid products and clothing at specific Off the Grid Market locations. The Retail Sales Associate embodies the identity of Off the Grid in appearance, engaging demeanor, customer relationship values, and passion for the community we build.  As a visible representative of Off the Grid, the Retail Sales Associate connects with our market guests to promote Off the Grid retail brand products.

We are looking for a dependable, trustworthy, and outgoing people who are available weekday evenings starting at 4pm, and on weekends starting at 10am. Candidates must have previous retail experience and must enjoy interacting with a high volume of customers, have great customer service skills and a positive attitude. This is a part-time job offering 15-25 hours a week.

You must be able to work the following part-time retail schedule:

Thursday from 4pm-10pm

Friday from 4pm-12pm

Sunday from 10am-5pm

You may also be required to work other shifts throughout the week, depending on the growing retail needs at other OtG markets.

This is a great starting position for someone with 2-4 years of Retail Experience potential for other opportunities at our growing company.

Responsibilities:

Mobile Market Ambassador

Job Summary:

Your friendly neighborhood food truck aficionados at Off the Grid are looking for part-time Mobile Market Ambassadors to ensure our market events are set up, taken down and run seamlessly. As a visible representative of Off the Grid, the Ambassador engages market guests, supports our food truck vendors and helps make sure the location is safe, clean and a happy place to be.

As a member of the Market Staff, you would work the hours and days of our weekly markets. A typical schedule may be 3:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m., three to five days a week, including one to two weekend days.

This is a great starting position with Off the Grid with potential for other opportunities at our growing company.

Responsibilities:

• Market Setup and Teardown – drive or co-pilot Off the Grid trucks to/from event site, aid in unloading/loading, setting up/ taking down tables/chairs, displays, lights, garbage/recycling, electrical supply, ensuring location is spotless upon departure

• Food Truck Vendor Relations– provide support as needed, ensure they are one of the family while helping to provide the best service to our customers

• OtG Brand Ambassador  – greet, welcome and thank guests, provide information as needed, go the extra mile for guests; represent our brand with pride, role modeling our values, standards and foodie-passion

• Safety Monitoring – remove any obstacles and potential dangers, help keep areas clean and debris free

• Market Operations- oversee entrance/exit, welcome and thank guests, ensure clean and inviting market space

Hands-on Event Crew Member

 Off the Grid is looking for energetic and hardworking Event Crew Members to help with the seamless onsite execution of our largest-scale weekly mobile markets.

If you enjoy working outdoors, are great with a drill, have experience with general labor, are comfortable with driving a truck, and are capable of lifting up to 50lbs, this is the position for you!

Responsibilities:  

• Complete the setup and break down of tables/chairs, tents, displays, lights, garbage/recycling and electrical supply in an organized and collaborative manner

• Maintain and inventory all event, production, and storage equipment

• Execute an efficient and organized event layout to maintain a strict timeline for each event.

• Adhere to safety procedures, removing any obstacles and potential dangers from the event space

• Care for and ensure proper treatment of equipment and materials

• Expertly operate trucks and forklifts with care

• Diagnose and solve problems quickly and efficiently

• Represent Off the Grid with professional, friendly interaction with our vendors, co-workers and the public and demonstrate leadership by implementing OtG’s policies and procedures

Requirements:  

• CA driver’s license with clean driving record

• Commercial truck driving experience a plus

• Forklift certification, preferred

• Strong sense of urgency and ability to adhere to a timeline

• Self-starter and multi-tasker who can manage simultaneous projects

• Strong problem-solving skills

Executive Assistant 

 

Off the Grid is in search for an amazing Executive Assistant to be the “right hand man or woman” to our founder/owner and support him in achieving his daily goals, tasks, and responsibilities, both big and small. This is an extremely important role and we are looking for someone with a great attitude and work ethic, who is incredibly organized and enjoys helping and creating new processes, who can juggle a large number of tasks at once, and who can anticipate the owner’s daily needs with little to no prompt.  This position requires patience, adaptability to change, resourcefulness, and superb communication skills, along with an approachable and confident demeanor.

The owner is a very busy man and is pulled in a million directions throughout the day. We are looking for an executive assistant that is able to hit the ground running and take charge of this position.  The right candidate must be flexible in nature and truly enjoy and understand the challenges of supporting a busy executive in a rapidly growing company.  We are looking for someone that can quickly adapt to Off the Grid’s company culture and can successfully operate at the level and pace that our work environment demands.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Acting as the “gate keeper” to the owner

• Manage and maintain owner’s professional and personal calendar, making sure he stays on schedule and being able to adjust as needed

• Work directly with staff in scheduling meetings and providing information about the owner’s availability and location throughout the day

• Coordinating with the executive team to aid performance and priorities

• Manage daily email correspondence and communication for the owner, and quickly respond to them in an appropriate and welcoming manner

• Schedule meetings, lunch dates, dinner reservations, and weekend getaways

• Handle both business and personal travel arrangements

• Screen telephone calls, inquiries and request and directly handle when appropriate

• Perform administrative duties, including maintaining files and typing letters and memos

Retail Production Manager

 

Off the Grid is more than just great food; it’s about building great communities! We are looking to expand our scope into non-food retail and are searching for a trailblazer to take the lead and manage the conception, logistics, and execution of our events.

We are looking someone who loves exploring for new and interesting elements of design, and can work closely and effectively with craftsman and small business owners. We want a consummate people person who has extensive experience in effectively managing in an events environment. This person must also be dedicated to cultivating and contributing to the success of the small business’ we work with. We’re looking for someone who has an excellent working knowledge of the current DYI arts space and can execute a vision for an entirely unique retail space (existing business relationships are a plus).  This is full-time position that requires nights and weekends.

 

 Job Scope:

This position will oversee our current OtG Retail Department including:

• Management of Retail Supervisor and hourly retail staff

• Management of Inventory and Controls

• Staff training, Schedule Management and Sales Strategy Direction

• Order and Purchasing Plans

• Cash handling, budget, and inventory controls

 

General Market Responsibilities:

• Learn and understand OtG market supervisor/management essentials

• Learn OtG scheduling and internal tools for vendor management

Work closely with Market Management team to effectively manage OtG market and event staff

Effectively manage a team and third party relationships to meet deadlines associated with vendor booking, staffing, scheduling, and onsite execution

• Effectively learn and enforce OtG standards and contract commitments

 

Retail Markets Responsibilities:

Work collaboratively to concept and create an OtG Flea Market.

• Identify target vendors and categories for outreach and systematically lead a team to recruit vendor participation

• Work collaboratively to identify, design and construction needs, and create a timeline/budget necessary for successful deployment of those materials at the event.

  • Create and execute an event timeline and layout for the flea market
  • Manage vendor and third-party documentation including all necessary contract and permits

• Collaboratively create a budget and work within cost constraints necessary for project execution.

• Create a staffing and hiring schedule necessary for successful event production

• Work with Marketing Department to create a strategy for vendor recruitment and flea market promotion

• Create, follow and execute production schedule for successful event execution.

• Determine Necessary production materials for flea market and create/execute production schedule for flea market execution

• Work collaboratively with event partners (landlords, neighbors, stakeholders)

• Work with the Accounting Department to manage vendor payment processes and billing needs

• Manage permit process and compliance needs for vendors and OtG to legally and safely operate the designed flea market

• Execute all aspects of Retail Flea market event including production, operation and conclusion of event

• Work to consistently improve and adjust event as necessary (reflect seasonal changes, vendor evolution, holiday needs, promotional opportunities)

 

Job Qualifications:

• 5 + years of management experience a must

• Experience in working directly with craft, retail and art vendors

• Experience with Online Retail Marketing and Public Relations a must
